This is a fairly level trail with lots of creek critters to look at and some decent rock outcroppings to explore.
Description
From the easternmost parking area, this trail rolls easily almost all the way to the falls with the occasional mild, short uphill section. There are occasional tree branches and roots, and yes, some rocks, but this is the kind of trail that nearly everyone can enjoy. There are plenty of things to see along the way including towering trees and rhododendrons, and lower to the ground (in the spring at least), colorful mushrooms and deep green ferns abound.
Toward the falls, it becomes a bit more steep and tricky, but take your time and everyone will be wowed by the gorgeous falling water. If it rains, the trail does become quite slick due to the exposed mud and tree cover as well as the moss that is heavy in some areas (a good bit of the trail runs next to the creek that feeds the falls).
Flora & Fauna
Ferns, rhododendrons, mushrooms, tall hemlocks, various hardwood species, mice, and the occasional deer can be found in this area.
