Description

This trail starts from the Creekside Meadows Trail, crosses Clear Creek Road, and then starts a steep climb (more than 20% grade in places) for about 0.3 miles to the top of the ridge. About 0.25 miles later, the singletrack broadens out to a gravel/dirt access road to service a natural gas pipeline.

At about the one mile mark, there is an old barn just off the trail to the south that has had the roof replaced as well as some of the siding boards. It is open for exploration. The trail comes into a clearing at 2.2 miles, where it turns south as it meets the Chestnut Trail, and the service road veers to the north out of the park. The trail continues to the south through a prairie area about 0.3 miles until it meets the Fern Trail.

Flora & Fauna

A rare yellow lady slipper orchid is enclosed to protect it from being grazed by deer.
