Overview
An easy hike around a scenic lake that is easy to access year round.
Description
There are several parking areas throughout the park and along Nancy Creek Drive NE. There are also sports fields, picnic pavilions, benches, and areas accessible to the lake for fishing.
This is an easy trail with little to no elevation gain with the only small obstacles being exposed roots and the occasional puddle.
The loop surrounds Murphey Candler Lake and crosses the north fork of Nancy Creek on the park's north side. The northern half of the trail takes you through the wooded creek bottom, and there are several footbridges crossing over smaller offshoots of the creek.
This area contains standing water, so it is a good idea to apply insect repellant during the summer months.
Flora & Fauna
Waterfowl (ducks, geese, cranes, herons), fish, and turtles can be found in the park.
