Before embarking on your hike stop by the Mountain Adventure Center in the village for trail updates and a backcountry hiking/biking map. This trail is multi-use, and you may encounter bikers.

Description

To access the top of Bail Out, use the Cheat Mountain Ridge Trail. The trail starts on the left near the end of Cheat Mountain Ridge Trail just prior to the fire tower. Bail Out is steeper singletrack trail. As hikers descend, the canopy changes from a spruce forest to hardwoods. The trail tread contains a couple of short, flat rock gardens that can require more careful footwork. Bail Out terminates on the Shavers Lake Trail at the Shavers Lake dam.
