The Thread Loop starts off of Figure 8 just before the old entrance to the Carolina Thread Trail. The first section before the service road is called "Spool" and is a gentle climb. The rest of the new section of trail consists of two short downhill sections and one climb in between the first and second downhills. The end of the new section of trail is at the intersection with Carolina Thread and the loop takes the last 2/3 of a mile of the old Thread Trail to complete the loop back to Figure 8.
