“The Chata Trail runs above the lake and campground area.
”
Dogs must be on a leash while in the Choctaw Lake Recreation Area
Description
The Chata Trail was constructed and is semi maintained by the Forest Service. It begins at a large wooden map showing the trails behind the lake. There is parking space for one or two vehicles. Chata follows an old road until it intersects with the Headwaters Trail and Cabin Lake trail. It continues with Cabin Lake trail across an extensive bridge where the two trails split with Chata continuing to the left up a steep hill. The trail ends at an intersection with Lakeside trail.
Turn right to head back to the pavilion and campground or left to continue around the lake towards the backwaters. The Headwaters Trail terminus is just a few yards to the left.
