Description
This trail was cut in the summer of 2017 thanks to the work and partnership between the Tahoe Area Mountain Bike Association, the US Forest Service, and many volunteers.
This connector offers well graded and spacious singletrack through the Angora burn area with wide turns and newly graded dirt, which makes it soft to hike on in either direction. The trail will connect you from
Gunmount Trail at its base up to Angora Ride Rd. at the top about 50 yards from the historic Angora fire lookout.
Besides some tree cover toward the top once you're nearing the ridge line, most of the trail winds its way through the Manzanita and Whitethorn that proliferated here after the Angora fire and provides sweeping views of the south Tahoe basin throughout.
That being said, do not expect much respite from the sun if going for a climb. You'll notice young species of pine and cedar along the trail beginning to regenerate the forest thanks to reforestation projects by local agencies.
