Description
While the
Blue Trail does provide gorgeous riverside views and a nice experience in dense forest, parts of it can be overgrown and wild, so it's not a good choice for those looking to experience a perfectly manicured trail.
However, if you're in the mood for an adventure, the
Blue Trail is well worth your while.
From the junction with the
Orange Trail, the
Blue Trail leaves the fields to make a westerly journey through wild, fairly unmaintained country rife with tall grass, spiky bushes, and thickets. After fighting the undergrowth for a few minutes, the trail finally pops through the dense forest to reach the Musconetcong River. From the river, enjoy gorgeous views along this peaceful, majestic waterway as you reap your reward.
Upon reaching the junction with Point Mountain Road, those who wish to cut their time short and return to the main parking area can do so by following the road left (south) for a short distance.
Continuing past the road on the
Blue Trail, it meanders along the river for a short distance before looping north to enjoy the last bit of temperate hardwood forest before reaching the parking area.
