Description

Running from Juan Tomas Rd 242 south to the Mahogany trail, this section of Pokerchip is bliss. Starting from Rd 242 you'll immediately start a gradual descent on curving trail in the trees. Eventually the turns get tighter and there are a few rocks here and there.

Once you cross the dry stream bed (I'm sure at some point there is water in the thing but hey, this is the desert) the trail starts to climb. You'll begin with a couple of switchbacks that are a little tight then things mellow out until you reach the junction with the Gamble Oak trail.

Finish with another climb up to the Mahogany trail from here that in sections looks like a bobsled run, followed by a rocky section at the top of the climb.
