Description

Begin at the Upper Wapiti trailhead at the end of FS Road 2522, off Taylor Fork Rd. Take the singletrack trail (off the newly graded ATV trail) which is on your right and crosses the creek. This is Lower Wapiti Trail #35. Note the junction in 1.5 miles, which is where you stay left and keep climbing on what becomes FS Trail #74 or Little Wapiti.

After climbing along the creek through numerous meadows and parks, and eventually to the sub-alpine ridge which surrounds Sunlight Basin, you'll come to a junction with a doubletrack ATV route, the Oil Well Road Trail #68. You can turn around and descend from here, but you'd miss the views provided by the loop using Minnie Wapiti Trail #203.
