The Red Trail passes through several creeks with easy hiking down by the creeks - but there are a few climbs to be had.

Dawson Forest is closed to mountain bikers and equestrians the first week in August.

Description

From the parking lot, travel east following red and blue blazes. You'll join the road on which you came in for a few hundred feet and then take the well-marked (red and blue blazes) shortcut on the left through the field.

Then you've got about one mile of easy forest road before the trail turns to a singletrack. The singletrack begins a difficult 200 ft climb after passing through a creek. After a short, flat section, you've earned a fun singletrack descent down to another creek crossing.

The easy singletrack continues in the valley for a half mile and then you have a difficult climb out. The climb out is initially singletrack but it becomes a forest road shortly after a power line cut. Follow Powerline Road for about one mile and then there will be a singletrack off to the right. This is where the trail meets up with the Blue Trail (North). Take a right and follow this south back to your car.
