Description

The bottom three miles of this trail are narrow and filled with scree fields. Many will avoid that and connect to this trail from its intersection with Gold Creek Ridge #43.

From the junction with Gold Creek Ridge Trail #43, head uphill, crossing the creek every so often. As the trail climbs, you enter a dense lodgepole forest littered with downfall. If there is ever a lightning strike here, hope you aren't on the trail. When it burns it will be bad.

About a mile before the trail reunites with Gold Creek Ridge #43 at the upper junction, the trail joins Gold Creek Mine Access Road. At this point, the trail becomes a steep hike back to the trailhead.

At least it would be a hike if you could get through, but this last mile wasn't cleared last time we were out and the downfall made it impassable. As an alternative, you can hike the Gold Creek Mine Access Road out to FS Road 969 to complete a loop.
