Description

This trail starts at a parking area near the intersection of Bluffs Drive and Bellyache Rd. Please be aware that to reach the trailhead, you'll be traveling through a neighborhood, so please be courteous to the full-time residents. Following E. 2nd street is the most direct way to reach the trailhead, which is reached by turning right onto Bluffs Dr., followed by a nearly immediate left onto Bellyache Rd. There's parking for about 5-6 cars, otherwise, you'll need to head out to the overflow parking. Please do not cut through the yards of residents to reach the trailhead.

From the parking area on Bellyache Rd, hike up the doubletrack hill and look for the green gate at a bend in the road. Instead of following the road to the right, proceed around the green gate and down the doubletrack for 0.15 miles. After hiking through a drainage, look to your right for the signs for the Boneyard Trail.

The route climbs steadily for 1.45 miles and includes several switchback turns and two major drainage crossings. This section of trail exits into the open for a brief moment before ducking back into the sage and pinyon-juniper trees for another 0.74 miles. After this, the trail levels out for awhile and travels through an open sagebrush meadow with 360 degree views and plenty of small banked turns.

The final singletrack section of The Boneyard climbs again around a technical rocky knoll before intersecting a doubletrack. This section levels out when it reaches Bellyache Road.

Return Options: From here you can turn around and hike back down Boneyard, turn right and cruise down Bellyache Rd to the start, or turn left on Bellyache Rd to access Redneck Ridge, Pool and Ice Rink, or Dirt Surfer.
