Family Friendly Relatively flat rolling terrain with a quick reward at the lookout over Island Lake.

Description

This has long been a popular stop in the winter for XC skiers. It is now also becoming popular with mountain bikers. County Line currently is being cleared and built by locals who also XC ski the area in the winter.

The terrain is flat overall, with short ups and downs as the trail rolls through the forest on top of Grand Mesa. This is a trail for those who want a scenic rah, especially in September. Pines, aspens, valleys, meadows, lava rock gardens, lakes, wildlife, cliff overlooks, it's all here.

Grand Mesa is full of these seemingly random piles of lava rocks, like they fell from the sky.
