This trail is a Kaniksu National Forest Trail, named Mineral Point Trail #82, and is part of a system of trails in the Mineral Point area. It offers amazing views of the mid-section and northern end of Lake Pend Orielle as well as the large mountain areas called The Monarch Mountains and the The Scotchman Peaks. It is a well maintained trail with predominately hard-pack dirt with occasional rocky sections.

There are two trailheads. The lower trailhead is located at the Green Bay Camp Area and the upper trailhead is located at the end of Forest Road 532.

This trail features many views of the lake. The main view point is called Mineral Point and is well marked with a stone-cemented plaque monument. If you are starting from the lower trailhead this is a great place to stop for a little rest before continuing your climb.
The trail predominately winds inward from the high, rocky, cliff shores, dipping into the deep parts of the forest from time to time and then popping you out a half-dozen times to beautiful view points.

All in all, this is a very fun trail and a fun area to go get lost in for a 1/2 day adventure.
After you are done hiking, head into the town of Sandpoint for some awesome local cuisine, beer and coffee.
