This trail officially begins near Sea Pond Road, but the most common entrance point is the Blue Mountain Beach parking lot, where parking is available. From the Blue Mountain Beach parking lot, take the paved path north along Florida Hwy 83 for about 1/8 mile to the trail sign indicating the trail entrance of the Point Washington Forest. From the trailhead, descend slightly to a wooden bridge over Red Fish Lake then after short incline the trail begins snaking through the pines.

You'll cross a few fire break roads but the trail is well marked with signs clearly visible attached to trees. There are a few wet marsh areas with bridges. The trail is well maintained by locals.

You can continue on the trail for another 2.2 miles after crossing Highway 283 and 1.3 miles after crossing Highway 395. For its duration, the trail is fairly consistent, with some sandy areas, roots and switchbacks. You'll find that you need to cross highways several times over the course of this trail. At each crossing, there is a paved path that will allow for safe travel and also bail-out points that will return you to town.

There are several trailheads but most begin at the Satinwood road parking lot off 30-A. There is a $2.00 per person use fee. This is a multi-use trail so be respectful of there users and know right-of-way rules.
