Description

The Puget Power Powerline Trail is mainly singletrack, but there are sections of doubletrack access road and one road section to take you around a couple farms that restrict access to the powerlines.

Between Sammamish River trail up to Education hill, the trail is flat for the first mile, after which it immediately climbs a moderate grade and up a series of 7-8 steps. Halfway up the hill, cross HWY 202 through the cross-walk and continue climbing the rest of the hill. The trail then levels off, and even descends slightly on wide doubletrack with loose gravel in several sections. The trail descends again after about 3 miles before ending in Farrel McWhirter Park.

It is possible to connect this trail to Powerline Trail via a few roads. Do do this, head north on 196th Ave NE, to the junction with NE 116th Street. Head east on this road then take right to head south on 206th Ave NE. Follow this road south till it turns east and ends where Powerline Trail starts.

After hiking 3.5 miles along the paved Sammamish River Trail, look for this trail cutoff on your left (next to a Trail Information booth) that will take you up to the Puget Powerline Trail.
