“Over 18 miles of true singletrack built by mountain bikers for mountain bikers.
”
Family Friendly
At the Putnam County Park there's a city pool, an 18-hole frisbee golf course, and a large playground.
This trail was purpose-built for mountain bikers, but hikers can enjoy it too. Just be alert as you hike.
Description
The trail system (main loop) is approximately eighteen (18) miles and provides hikers with plenty of varied terrain. The trails are predominantly smooth, but there are rougher sections mixed in. The trailhead is located by the shelter near the front of the park. A kiosk beside the trailhead contains a map of the entire course, along with signage instructions. Most bikers will be traveling counter-clockwise, so consider heading clockwise.
The trails are well marked with red arrow plates that mark the main loop. Each major intersection is numbered and contains a smaller map indicating your position on the course. The yellow arrow plates at each intersection indicate shortcuts from the main loop, which allow you to plan the hike best for you.
This is a beautiful trail system with amazing infrastructure that includes fifteen bridges and more than one hundred drains. There are absolutely no wet or muddy areas on the course, and it is considered the go to place when neighboring trails are too wet. The course has approximately 1,800’ of climbing and will certainly test your cardio fitness.
