Description

This is another option to connect to the Gorge Trail without heading up Fort Trail. This begins with essentially a 1/3-mile climb up a hollow to a saddle between Easton Hill and Fort Hill.

This is a vigorous climb where you gain a little less than 200 feet. Expect to see views of old-growth forest with a steady climb even while taking some light switchbacks. Once you reach the top of the hill, you'll follow Fort Hill along the contour until intersecting with the Gorge Trail.

This trail also connects the entrance and exit of the Buckeye Trail from the park in case Buckeye Trail hikers wanted to skip the mileage within Fort Hill.
