The north section (about 6.1 miles in from the Southern Trailhead) of this trail includes winter ski and snowshoeing trails that are closed when they are groomed and the ski center is open. If the ski center is not open for skiing and the trails are no groomed then the trails are available for all users. There is only a fee charged when the ski center is open. All other times of year access is free.-Fahnestock State Park Management

Description

The Roaring Brook Trail (marked with white discs) can be accessed from the east side of Pelton Pond or from the Clarence Fahnestock Park Campgrounds.

The trail starts as a well-defined forest road which eventually becomes an overgrown, wide singletrack trail. The Roaring Brook Trail has a gradual descent. The trail will reach the Taconic State Parkway and follows the highway for another four miles.

Roaring Brook gives access to the Stillwater Loop Trail and the Pasture Loop Trail. This is the only way to access these trails, and the trail is typically done as a loop with one or both of these trails.
