Description
The red-blazed Upper Loop Trail has two entrances which are both accessed from near the highest point of the
Lower Loop Trail and within a couple hundred feet of each other. Both have a small wooden sign about one foot off the ground marking the junctions. The southeastern entrance to the Upper Loop is a much more gradual climb than the second entrance.
The trail gradually climbs past several switchbacks and through a small mountain bike terrain park and has some fun log crossings and rock ramps. The well-constructed trail continues to slowly climb along the side of the slope. Eventually, the trail starts to descend steeply until it reaches its terminus a couple hundred feet from where you began on the orange-blazed
Lower Loop Trail.
Be sure to dress in bright colors during hunting season (easiest to remember as fall and winter).
The town of Narrows and nearby Pearisburg both have many trails and are investing in outdoor recreation. Stop in at local restaurants and stores to support these small towns so they continue to support outdoor recreation!
