Description
The orange-blazed Lower Loop Trail starts from the narrow footbridge 100 yards from the parking area. The bridge crosses to the west side of Mill Creek. For a gentler uphill, take a left (south) just after crossing the bridge to hike parallel to Mill Creek. This is a beautiful section which also weaves past a historic building. Soon, the well-graded and well-constructed trail will switchback to the north and continue its gradual, slow climb. Soon you'll pass two trails on your left within a couple hundred feet of each other which are the red-blazed
Upper Loop Trail. The first entrance to the Upper Loop is a much more gradual climb than the second entrance. After passing both Upper Loop junctions, the trail starts to descend at a steeper gradient back down to the footbridge.
Be sure to dress in bright colors during hunting season (generally fall and winter).
The town of Narrows and nearby Pearisburg both have many trails and are investing in outdoor recreation. Stop in at local restaurants and stores to support these small towns so they continue to encourage outdoor recreation!
