Description
Starting from the parking lot directly behind the Army Corp of Engineers building, head down the trail which is on the opposite side of the parking lot. When you leave the parking lot you'll follow a trail for about 20 yards or so and you'll come to a Y. Take the trail to the left and continue on through a small pine grove. You'll come to the road again and see a trail directly across the road, if you want to do about half of the trail then head across the road and take the trail other wise hang a left on the road until you come to another parking area, watch to your left and you'll see a trail darting into the woods, this is the trail you want.
This is a fun little trail. The area where the trail is built is relatively flat compared to some other trails. Don't expect to find a lot of elevation gain out there; the only hard climb is what they call the Power Line Loop. There are a few rougher spots but nothing to worry about. For the most part this trail is pretty easy, it is mostly hard packed with some loose rock.
The trail was built on a very small tract of land so it is tight and twists through the woods. You can also find a few little spots out here to get some air. There are a few nice places to get in some scenic views; one of which is at the top of Power Line hill. Once at the top of the hill, look to your left and you'll see a small trail heading toward the river. If you take this trail it will bring you to some bluffs that overlook the Arkansas River. We call this little trail the Bluff Trail and if you continue on you'll come out to a parking area where you can get another good shot of the river below. The Rock Quarry can be kind of nice for scenic views as well.
