Starting at Nebo Creek Road, the Blackhawk Trail ascends up a moderately steep slope before leveling off to rolling topography. The trail winds through open meadows and shaded woodlands and offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. This is a popular multi-use trail.

The Blackhawk trail forms the backbone of a network of trails along the Mount Nebo National Scenic Byway. Most use occurs at the northern end of the trail; at times the southern end can be difficult to follow.
