Description
The Kentuck Trail can be accessed from three distinct points: (1) the Tharp Knob Picnic Area at the southern end, (2) the Kentuck Campground Wood Shelter at the only road crossing in the middle of the trail, or (3) the
Jonathan Run Trail at the northern terminus. These points also denote the distinct "heads" of the trail.
The southern half of the trail is rolling with a few climbs and descent that can be enjoyed. The northern half is a single hill of 400 feet that is made of loose rock (2" diameter). However,
Jonathan Run Trail is a beautiful trail crossing over Jonathan Run several times, which is a 10-15 foot wide stream over little depth.
Note: when exiting the woods heading south to north, you'll exit the woods to a campground road with the wood shelter to your left. Stay on the road, heading up the small incline. The Kentuck Trail juts off the road and immediately begins the descent to Jonathan Trail.
