Normal high-elevation seasonality applies. Expect the Spring Creek crossing to be higher (and potentially impassable) during times of high runoff. This road is open to motorized traffic, and accessible by most AWD or 4x4 vehicles with mid to high clearance that can handle the creek crossing.

Description

About 9 miles up Spring Creek Road from Taylor River Road, this two-track splits off to the right and crosses Spring Creek almost immediately. Ford the creek (you'll need to remove your shoes if you want to keep them dry) and settle in for a fairly straightforward 1,200-foot climb.

Stay right at both junctions you encounter along the way, and enjoy wonderful views of the Spring Creek Drainage and Cement Mountain. Once you gain the ridge, views to the south—across meadows often filled with wildflowers—are superb.
