Description

This trail can be hikeed as a long out and back; as a longer out and back by adding Horseshoe Canyon South Fork; as a loop by adding Mount Manning and Twin Creek; as an even longer loop starting w/Horseshoe Canyon South Fork and returning on W 3000 S/S 5000 W/W Buxton/N 7000 W/W 1000 N/Old Horseshoe Road.

The top of Mahogany was the benefit of a trail reroute in the last few years. The trail reroute eliminated steep and loose rocky section. Now the top consists of tight switchbacks, all on our typical nice smooth dirt floor found in the Big Holes. A few rocks can be found as well as you progress down the trail. The trail is easy to follow. The bottom of the trail requires a creek crossing so plan on getting a little wet depending on depth.

This trail is a favorite for motorcycles and horses also so always be alert as you head down.
