Description

Although hikers are allowed on this trail, they should yield right-of-way to bikes, as this trail was designed for mountain bikers.

This trail has three trailheads. The one most often used is near the State Park Visitor Center and has plenty of parking. Another trail that accesses the lower section of the trail is at the park entrance on Pinnacle Valley Road. Limited parking is available here. The other entrance is on Pinnacle Valley Road near the park entrance sign and offers NO parking but is convenient if hiking the Arkansas River Trail to the park.

From the visitor center, your return will be uphill no matter which direction you hike. The trail has rocky sections and tight blind corners so be alert while hiking. Most of the climbs are not too challenging but can be a littler steep in places. This trail drains very quickly and with the exception of springs that pop up near the trail after a rain. It's an excellent choice when it's been rainy.
