Description
From
Pico da Bandeira, Pico do Calçado is on the way to Pico do Cristal. This peak is quite easy to get to. Just hike the trail on the way to Pico do Cristal, and you'll reach the Calçado summit in about 30 minutes.
From Pico do Calçado, the trail continues on to Pico do Cristal. For approximately 1/3 of the way, the trail is easy with some descents; the other 2/3 until the base of Cristal is quiet, but does not have a defined trail, and the signage is by totems. I recommend the use of a GPS or the
Hiking Project mobile app to help find your way.
The ascent to the summit of Cristal involves some 3rd degree climbing as well as well as some exposure. For the unskilled hiker, I recommend the use of a guide with ropes and climbing equipment, but for hikers who are used to scrambling, the summit can be reached without much difficulty.
