Description

For those looking for a rugged connector, this trail connects Rt. 33 at the VA/WV border to High Knob Trail (1024) and many trails in the Hone Quarry/Flagpole area. The trail traverses rocky slopes along the Western face of Shenandoah Mountain. Thankfully, this easy to access trail is a popular trail to High Knob Fire Tower, and the northernmost mile of this trail sees significantly more traffic than the remaining Southern piece.

Beyond the High Knob intersection, the trail gets a little harder with steeper pitches, more rocks, and exposure. There are sections of ridgetop climbing and descending.

Rocky and technical. A few hike a bike climbs, but mostly rideable and pretty and a good way to get out in the backcountry and connect to other trails 7.5mi — 1h 30m
