Description
Witchback, as it's name implies, starts with a steep climb through a couple of tough switchbacks.
Witchback is not consistently hard from a technical standpoint, but there are a couple of rocky sections and one really steep climb called Heartbreak Hill. Witchback has more sustained climbs and longer descents than most trails at Angler's. Witchback can be connected with White Fawn and Hidden Hollow for the Orange Loop (15/16 mile loop). There is also plenty of wildlife and beautiful forest scenery along the way, although once you come out of the back loop, you may get a nice whiff of the nearby water treatment facility as you enter the fun section called Cliffside.
Cliffside is a nice smooth benchcut hike along the 'cliff' that has several nice downhills and accompanying climbs.
All trails at Anglers Ridge are open to mountain bikers, hikers, and runners: Be mindful.
