From the Big Sky base area, follow signs to Upper South Fork trail, which begins on a doubletrack climb just above the Ramcharger lift loading area. After a short gentle climb, the singletrack begins, climbing smoothly across the top of Coolridge Trail and to the ski area boundary, where the descent begins. From here it's all smooth trail with abundant turns.

The trail ends at the Middle Fork Access Road, where you can hike down the pavement to the Meadow or take the Middle Fork Trail down, instead.
