Description

Trail #305 (AKA - The Homestead Trail) is a 6.6 mile point to point trail. It an be accessed from either the Trail #62 (Ranch Trail) parking area at the northern end of the trail or from Bannie Mine Road parking area at the southern end. Both parking areas can be accessed from Walker Road. These two parking areas are free.
The trail is reasonably smooth with many areas of finely split vertical slate treads and a few more technical areas. Most of the trail is either going uphill or downhill. It is mostly in the shade of the tall pines. It also crosses a tiny stream (when its running). As you near the midway point you can easily access both the north and south shore parking and day use areas at Lynx lake. These are paved roads going to these areas. There are grills, pit toilets, gazebos with picnic tables, trash cans, and of course nice views of the lake.
