Need to Know
Adventure Pass required to park at Chantry Flat. Lot fills early on weekends.
Description
To reach the trail, take the
Gabrielino Trail (NRT) 11W14 down the paved road from Chantry Flat to the bridge over Winter Creek. The trail starts near the vault toilet (left turn) and heads west following Winter Creek upstream. The trail is well shaded with oak, alder, willow, and bay trees and passes several early 20th century cabins. At 1.4 miles it reaches Hoegees Trail Camp which has tables, stoves and vault toilets. It is popular overnight destination for scouts and small groups. The trail climbs a short distance and intersects the
Zion Trail #11W17. Continue left and the trail crosses the stream and ends at the junction of the
Upper Winter Creek Trail #11W23 and
Winter Creek Trail #11W20.
This trail can be combined with the
Upper Winter Creek Trail #11W23 or
Zion Trail #11W17 for various loop opportunities.
