Description
The Glen Meadow Loop Trail (recognizable at signposts with a yellow "blaze" and white cricket logo) starts at the eastern side of the main parking lot when you enter Penitentiary Glen Reservation Metropark. Hiking clockwise from the parking lot will have you meander through a meadow on the paved trail with occasional interpretive signs.
At the southern point of the loop, you'll come to junctions with a paved spur to an overlook of Penitentiary Glen and the purple blazed
Halle Home Trail (which connects you to
Red Fox Loop Trail). Continuing clockwise, you'll be among the trees and shade.
Just before crossing the bridge between two ponds is a short spur to the Outdoor Classroom, Wildlife Center, and Nature Center. After the bridge, you'll return to the start of your loop and the parking lot. The Glen Meadow Loop Trail can easily be combined into a longer hike by connecting it to several nearby trails.
The trail is also open to bikers. Keep your eyes and ears open for bikers speeding along. The trail is popular, so please be friendly and say "hi" to everyone else out enjoying the Metroparks!
