Description

Overview: This is a well-built singletrack trail connecting the Lemon Grove Loop and Cerro San Luis fire road. The uphill from Lemon Grove Loop is a moderately steep grade with frequent switchbacks. It is well shaded by oak and crosses a series of bridges. Shortly after the crest of the trail, it exits the oak grove into low brush and continues at a light downhill grade.

Directions: To get here, park at the CSL parking lot, take signs for the Lemon Grove Loop and traverse north along the side of the mountain. Directly before the trail widens and drops into a eucalyptus grove, there is a gate on the left. Go through this gate into what appears to be a fruit tree grove, and take the trail that begins to the right of the bench. Once you are on the trail, it is very easy to follow.

For the other direction of travel, take the CSL fire road for 0.8 miles until it enters a oak grove in a drainage. The "M" trail goes uphill to the right and over a bridge. There is a sign for the trail and if you go under a gate, you've gone too far.

Flora & Fauna
