Description
The Campus Point Trail begins on the up-shore end of Goleta Beach. From here it follows the bluff-top path further up the shore. The singletrack path parallels the UC Santa Barbara campus access road as it meanders back and forth from the cliff's edge. After hiking for nearly 0.6 miles, the trail will pass by a parking area for the UCSB Marine Science Institute before wrapping around the back of the building to border the Campus Lagoon.
Following the trail along the lagoon above Campus Beach, it will then ascend a series of stairs to reach the top of the cliff on Campus Point. You'll then hike to the tip of the point to experience great views of the Pacific coastline in both directions. Once you've enjoyed the point, you can continue to follow the path as it heads up-coast before it connects with a larger path that exits the point. Hike slightly inland along the lagoon before the trail brings you back to the coast at Isla Vista Beach. The Campus Point Trail comes to an end here. You can return the way you came or link up with other beach trails after you've enjoyed this beautiful and sandy beach.
