Central Hardwoods Scenic Trail: Fenton to English Hill

This portion of the Central Hardwoods Scenic Trail consists of compacted stone. Whether starting from the Fenton or English Hill Trailhead, the trail consists of an uphill climb to the central portion of this section. The scenery consists of both woods with thick underbrush and more clear portions. A historical marker near the Fenton Trailhead tells about Fisherman's One Stop, a thriving business in the area before the formation of LBL.

The English Hill side of the trail begins with a couple hundred yards on a gravel road before the trail goes into the woods. Many people set out on this trail and hike a portion of it before retracing their steps and returning to their vehicle. Whether seeking a peaceful hike in the woods, a trail run, or an intermediate bike trail, this is a great trail.

The trail showcases hardwood forests, especially oak and hickory trees. Watch out for poison oak and poison ivy. As always, spray for ticks, and be alert for venomous snakes.
