Description
This is a steep mile-and-a-half singletrack that makes a great day-excursion during a longer overnight trip. If approaching it from Mirror Lake, like most do, hikers will have already put in almost a mile of steep switchback climbing up the
East Eagle Trail #1910.
From the split, the rocky singletrack works up the ridge through a particularly steep section. Once on the ridge, continue southwest through small scattered trees. Depending on how recently the trail has been maintained, you may encounter a few small sections of wash outs. The grade through this section is less steep, so enjoy the reprieve.
Once the singletrack moves away from the edge, it begins to steepen again. The final sections of trail follow a narrow bench-cut slicing across a steep and loose hillside. As hikers approach the summit, they'll climb through a short cluster of trees before reaching the expansive views at the edge. As you spin around, you'll be able to see long valleys, high mountains, and a slew of alpine lakes far below!
