Description
The Satwiwa Loop Trail begins and ends at the Native American Indian Culture Center.
To start the loop, follow the more narrow trail to the southeast, while being sure to avoid the wider Big
Sycamore Canyon Trail. After nearly 4/10 of a mile, the trail will continue straight and merge with
Danielson Road (Old Boney Trail) for a couple hundred feet before making the first left turn to continue on as its own trail.
The Satwiwa Loop Trail then runs along the eastern edge of the Rancho Sierra Vista area before reaching its highest elevation and then switchbacking down to a trail junction. The trail leading straight ahead links up with the
Wendy Trail. Avoid taking this path and turn left to follow the Satwiwa Loop Trail as it heads back to the trailhead.
On this last portion of the loop, you'll pass by a pond frequented by local birds and wildlife, as well as a Chumash village exhibit. Soon after passing the exhibit, you'll arrive at the Native American Indian Culture Center to complete the loop.
