There is no parking and no trailhead at the start of this trail. Park at the Dunraven Trailhead. Many hikers may prefer to skip the first part of this trail and the necessary hike along the road to reach it. Instead, consider heading up the Bulwark Ridge Trail / Indian Trail to join the trail 1.5 miles in.

Description

Sure, lots of trails in Colorado are beautiful, but this one actually took my breath away. Now, maybe it happened while I was laboring up the climbs, but regardless, this is a very pretty trail. It follows alongside the creek for its duration and passes through lush, beautiful forest. There are cool rock cliffs and outcroppings along the way as well.

As for the actual hiking, it follows pleasant sections of trail. It's generally pretty easy, but there are occasional sections or rocks or roots that make for a roughened tread. The trail crosses back and forth over the creek many times as it travels through the trees. Many of the log bridges were washed away or damaged during recent flooding.

Along the way, the trail intersects with the Donner Pass Trail #926 - Glen Haven Segment and the Donner Cutoff Trail #926-1. After the latter, this trail gets pretty darn tough to follow. It looks as if very few people follow the trail out that far. Depending on the time of year you may simply be bushwhacking to continue following it very far.
