Description
This trail begins a little ways in from the parking area off of Bella Vista Rd. To get to the trail hike along
Romero Canyon Road and stay to the right. Soon you'll see a sign for the Romero
Canyon Trail diverging off the road to the left as you go around a bend.
Follow the Romero
Canyon Trail as it follows Romero Creek up the canyon while crossing back and forth over it from one side to the other. After the second crossing you'll come across a small waterfall alongside the trail. There will be be a couple more creek crossings before you reach a series of switchbacks that take you up the steep hillside.
The switchbacks lead to a four-way trail intersection high in the canyon. The Lower Romero Trail ends here. To return to your starting point you can go back the way you came or connect with the
Romero Canyon Road at this intersection to loop back to the beginning. If you want to go farther, continue the upper portion of trail, which leads to the ridge and the highpoint of the full
Romero Canyon Out and Back route.
