The Gorge Rim Loop Trail is easily accessible from the parking lot at Penitentiary Glen Reservation. If traveling in a clockwise direction, the trail is alongside the kids' train tracks and then has the first of a couple boardwalk sections of the trail.

The trail gently descends to and then runs along the rim of Penitentiary Glen for 1/3 mile. You can also hike the Gorge Rim Loop Connector Trail to hike figure-eights. The trail has gentle slopes and is popular among hikers and the occasional biker. Be sure to be friendly out there.
