Description

D4 was once a nice singletrack before it was bulldozed and uprooted during an effort by the USFS to clear out some of the beetle kill pine in the area. Fortunately, the forest around the trail is slowly filling back in, and the rough and rocky doubletrack is returning to a much more pleasant singletrack reminiscent of the original trail.

From Vasquez Road, D4 climbs steadily but never steeply. You'll hike past two junctions with D3 and an intersection with WTB before coming to the trail's end off a turn on FS 159 (Leland Creek Road). From here, a short hike up the dirt road can get you to D2 Green if you want to continue your hike.

Flora & Fauna

Bear, moose, and deer. Lodgepole pine, aspens and some wildflowers in season near the top of the trail.
