Description

This is a popular trail that's one of two ways to reach Grassi Lakes on trail. The easier main route (Upper Grassi Lakes) is essentially just a gravel slope to the top, but this trail takes you on a waterfall-filled tour of the lower forested slopes.

This trail starts as a leisurely stroll through the woods on a tread with occasional roots and rocks. The trail slowly climbs until near the waterfall area, where the trail becomes quite steep and areas of stairs appear. These steep sections have some breathtaking views though, so feel free to take a break and enjoy, but mind the steady traffic of hikers. Upon reaching the top, there are two clear lakes, which the trail loops around, as well as a trail that leads higher up to the road at Whitemans Pond. You can return the way you came, or take the easier gravel Upper Grassi Lakes down.
