Overview

This is a great loop in Stratham Hill Park. There are many interior trails to extend the length of this route. This main Perimeter Trail has four major climbs (Jewel Hill, Long Hill, and Stratham Hill with two climbs) and comes in at 4.6 miles. Hike this in either direction! Blazes are yellow paint on multiple trees at approximately eye level.

Need to Know

Trail markers are yellow and are on trees at about eye level. The trail is on a mix of public and private land. There are yellow and black signs on trees indicating when you are entering private land areas. Dogs are allowed off-leash in the park areas and are supposed to be on leash in private areas. Private areas ARE open for hunting in the fall by private owners so wear orange during that time period.

Description

The yellow-blazed Perimeter Trail consists of multiple trails to form the main loop. It is a mix of singletrack and double-wide paths with some challenging climbs. There are several offshoot trails available as well if you are wanting to extend your hike or add various loops. The views from the top of the fire tower on Stratham Hill include Great Bay and Mount Washington on very clear days. There are some rocks/roots throughout, but for the most part the trail is an enjoyable hike.

The great trail running fun does not end with winter. Bring the snowshoes or microspikes.
