Description

This trail originates at Dowdy Lake, intersecting with the Dowdy Lake Trail. It is an old logging road, but there are stretches of this trail where it actually looks and feels like singletrack.

Hiking from west to east is predominantly downhill and a pretty fun hike. Depending on the time of year and water levels, you may expect a couple of creek crossings. The area is grazed by cattle, and there is a gate on the west end to keep them in. It intersects with the Mount Margaret Trail at a location known as "five points" due to this being a five-way intersection (including the East Dowdy Trail).

It meanders through pine forest and meadows along with interesting rock outcroppings. The east end of the trail does end at a frog pond.
