Bandersnatch is probably the most popular forest lands trail in the Ashland watershed. It's a pedestrian-equestrian trail that starts just off the Waterline Trail near Lithia Park and climbs steeply at times to reach its summit where it crosses the Alice in Wonderland Trail. It then descends on the east side of Alice to connect with JubJub and then joins FS Road 2060. There is a picnic bench with views of Mt Ashland about a half mile up from the trailhead before the trail crosses the BTI mountain bike trail. There are good views of the mountains as well as the Rogue valley.

Bears, deer, and cougars have been spotted on or near this trail. This trail is usually below the snow zone in the winter and continues to get frequent use all year-round.

Poison oak thrives in and around this trail. Several artworks appear along the bottom of the trail near Waterline.

Other Trail Connections About two-thirds up the trail on the right is the Snark Trail which will loop back down to the Waterline Trail. Just above this intersection is the Red Queen trail. And, after a few more switchbacks, you reach the Gryphon Trail, which connects back to the Red Queen trail to make a good loop.

Deer, bears, and cougar. Poison oak is everywhere along this trail.
