Description

This forest road is a steep and steady descent from the crown of Monte Calamita towards Punta di Buzzancone, which is a small promontory on the coast of Elba facing the Italian mainland. You'll lose 250 m (820 ft) in 1.5 miles and there is no intervening climb to break up the fun descent.

The route is heavily forested, so you don't have much of a view from the road. You could also climb this trail by parking near Capoliveri and taking the eastern coastal road to Punta di Buzzancone, but it's a difficult climb and so much more pleasant to access the trail using the Monte Calamita Sud forest road, making this part of a long but rewarding loop.
