Phoenicia East Branch Trail (Blue) starts at a parking area on Lane Street, just outside of the village of Phoenicia. From the trailhead, the trail switchbacks its way up a steep ridgeline to crest Romer Mountain, passes below the summit of Mount Pleasant, and finally reaches the summit of Cross Mountain. At the southern end of Cross Mountain, open rock ledges offer a fantastic view of the surrounding area, including numerous Catskill peaks. In the fall, this view can be absolutely sublime as the trees all around erupt in a blaze of fiery fall color.

After enjoying the views, take the trail as it begins to descend in earnest to end at the Burroughs Range Trail (Wittenburg Cornell Slide Trail).
